The life of an Epson printer can be greatly increased, and problems greatly reduced, by following this simple piece of advice.
Almost all Epson printers have the paper stack and feed at the top of the machine. The printer will print on the side that is facing up or towards you.
When not in use, dust will fall naturaly and land on the paper just like every other surface.
The next time you print something the paper is fed into the printer, complete with the layer of dust that has collected there, and then picked up by the print heads as they go from left to right. The result is "banding", lines that are missing from the print, or missing colours.
As the printheads of Epson machines can not be removed for cleaning, blocked or dirty printheads can only be cleaned by using the Epson software and literally trying to flush them clean using ink from the cartridges.
The Solution ?
Keep the printer covered over when not in use. Simple isn´t it? This will help to avoid bad quality prints and constant cleaning which in turn is using your ink.
